It Can’t Happen to Me!

Here’s a great clip that really brings home how easy it is to become homeless. There are a lot of reasons people become homeless but one factor nearly all of them have in common: the lack of a support network.

As the Hood River Warming Shelter prepares to open (December 4th) for the winter season, it’s good to remember, and do something, to help our neighbors living outside. The homeless are not “a problem to be solved” and they are not “a church project”. The homeless are you and me but without a net to catch us when we fall. Most often our friends on the street just want to be noticed, recognized as good people worthy of being listened to, to say “hi” to, not to be ignored.
